Successful Treatment of Post-dural Puncture Headache with Sphenopalatine Ganglion Block in Post-cesarean Section Patient: A Case Report

BACKGROUND: Post-dural puncture headache is a symptom often found in post-operative patients who receive spinal anesthesia. Therefore, therapy to reduce patient complaints becomes comparison find the best alternative for action. This case discusses post-dural risk factors post-cesarean section and sphenopalatine ganglion block as an pain intervention. CASE PRESENTATION: The 26-year-old woman, G1P0A0, 80 kg, presented first cesarean delivery at 37 weeks of gestational age due concern breech presentation. was put into sitting posture before anesthetic administered. She offered spinal-epidural anesthesia using Quincke type 26 G needle. successfully given one shot paramedian approach technique. medication 1 g paracetamol 8 h intervals analgesia. On day 2, consulted by anesthesiologist, reported 8/10 severity positional on numerical rating scale. Intranasal SPGB has been performed with lidocaine spray 20 mg. patient’s reduced from NRS 6/10 after 5 min block. Twenty-four hours procedure, can sit up, lower neck tension headache, resume activities independently. released next manageable headache. In 48 post-block, called inquired about PDPH almost no various positions. CONCLUSION: SPG be minimally invasive treatment PDPH. faster treated block, better scale outcome.
